Silver Spring, MD (November 20, 2023) – Donaldson collaborated with nonprofit Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) to extend a warm welcome to refugees from over 15 countries on Sunday at the Silver Spring Civic Center.
ECDC organized its 11th annual First Thanksgiving event in partnership with community volunteers and local businesses such as Donaldson to create a special experience for hundreds of refugees after their arrival in the US. Donaldson, along with EDCD, aimed to create an atmosphere of belonging and fellowship as the holiday season approaches. Attendees enjoyed a potluck-style Thanksgiving dinner, dancing, music, and games.
ECDC and its local branch, African Community Center DC-Metro, help refugees fleeing conflict and violence by offering resettlement services. As a corporate sponsor, Donaldson supports ECDC’s mission of opening doors to those seeking refuge and opportunity in the United States.
Donaldson has achieved remarkable success in employing refugees and creating housing opportunities in its communities. Through ECDC, Donaldson has not only hired three team members, but has also created housing opportunities for dozens of families and individuals.
Donaldson looks forward to its continued partnership with ECDC in 2024.
